in a relay event involving all the cadets who swam for an hour to complete as many lengths as they could in the time, then enjoyed a well deserved fun time to relax.

The Swimathon was organised to raise money for essential repairs to the unit’s mini bus which is being used for a trip to Belgium in August.

Thanks to Linda and Lawrence Pargeter for organising this event, the leaders were really pleased with the efforts of those individuals who took part and look forward to collecting the monies due.

In the girls 9 years age group, Rebecca Vernon received 2 speeding tickets in the 50m breaststroke and 100m IM events with Fatma Nassir also receiving 2 speeding tickets in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle events. In the 11-year age group Hannah Vernon finished 4th in both the 50m freestyle and 100m IM events, whilst in the 12-year age group Emma Humphrey won a bronze medal in the 50m fly. In the 13 year age group Zoe Turner received a speeding ticket in the 100m IM event with Rebecca Lee winning a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke and a 5th place finish in the 100m IM. In the 15 year and over age group Claire Humphrey won 3 gold’s in the 50m free, 50m fly and 50m breaststroke events and silver in the 50m backstroke.

In the boys 9 years age group Luke Ainscow finished with a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke. In the 11 year age group Mohamed Nassir won a gold in the 50m backstroke and 2 received speeding tickets in the 50m breaststroke and 100m IM events, whilst Sam Ainscow won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke and a speeding ticket in the 100m IM. In the 14-year age group Sean Mannion won a gold medal in the e100m IM and received 2 speeding tickets in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle events. In the 15 year and over age group, James Turner won gold in the 50m fly and 50m backstroke events and received a speeding ticket in the 100m IM. Leigh Wright won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke, 2 bronze medals in the 50m backstroke and 50m fly events and received 2 speeding tickets in the 50m free and 100m IM. Carl Pargeter won 2 silvers in the 50m freestyle and 100m IM events and finished 5th in the 50m backstroke.

Leighton Buzzard Open Meet, Tiddenfoot. Results

27 swimmers took part in 172 races and 7 relays, with a grand total of 26 finals. Liam Teske, Sean Ryan, Luke Ryan, Darren Quainton, Daniel Barry, James Turner, Thomas Denney, Jonny Quainton, Andy Wadsworth, Courtney Dos Santos, Callum Tierney, Chris Forshaw, Sam Ainscow, Leigh Wright, Joanne Quainton, Kiran Flynn, Claire Humphrey, Zoe Turner, Nicole Bass, Emma Humphrey, Rachel Denney, Amy Goodman, Rebecca Vernon, Hannah Vernon, Amy Bass, Natalie Barry, Rebecca Allen

Total of 128 PB’s were achieved during heats and heat declared events with an additional 21 pb’s achieved in finals, this is where the swimmer has achieved a pb in the morning session went on to beat their new time in the final, this is a fantastic achievement and shows such an improvement within our swimmers. The relay teams also performed well gaining some valuable points along the way and they were exciting too.

70 Club records were broken.

In the Top club awards we finished a superb 9th place, with 295.5 points, this is some 117.5 points up on last year, true recognition on the improvement seen.

In the Junior club award we also came 9th with 142 points.

For one of the smallest clubs in the County this is amazing!!!!

2 swimmers have gained Regional Bagcat qualifying times, these are Callum and Courtney. Good luck to them in June.

2 swimmers gained Regional Youth qualifying times, being Jonny and Liam.

Well done to all the swimmers and teachers who have really helped to make a name for Bletchley. Congratulations to all.
